Out of School Care

The St. Albert Day Care Society Out of School Care Programs strive to provide and maintain an organized, optimum learning environment that is safe, healthy and nurturing for elementary school aged children.

Program

Children will reap the short and long term benefits of participating in well organized Out of School activities. These benefits may include greater academic success and improved behavioral and social skills. Interpersonal skills, such as positive peer relations and conflict management, are extremely important as a child begins to build a sense of self.

Vision

The aim of the St. Albert Day Care Society’s Out of School Care Programs is to provide the best possible out of school care programs and facilities.

  • To create a relaxed, trusting, intimate atmosphere where children are encouraged to pursue their own interests, develop friendships, grow in confidence, independence, and respect for themselves and others.
  • To provide caring staff, who show genuine respect for the children, have confidence in each child’s potential and promote each child’s self-esteem.
  • To create a stable environment that is inviting, comfortable, attractive, orderly, manageable by the children and a happy, exciting place to be.
  • To provide for the children a variety of developmentally appropriate activities, including expressive art, construction, active play, sports, games, dramatic play, science, cooking, crafts, reading and computers.
  • To frame a schedule that allows time for children to observe, to reflect and to become absorbed in activities according to their own interests and talents.
  • To give individual guidance to children based on careful observation of each child’s needs and in keeping with parental values and goals.

Preschool

St Albert Preschool Academy prides itself on providing quality care and developmentally appropriate experiences so that every child may grow to his/her fullest potential as an individual.

Program

We use an Emergent Curriculum approach for planning, observing and assisting us on what directions to take learning opportunities for children. This approach is based on the children’s interests and passions as well as the adults’ learning and experiences. Planning for an Emergent Curriculum requires observation, documentation, creative brainstorming, research, flexibility and patience.

A child-centred approach promotes the rights of the child to choose, make connections and communicate.  It allows freedom for children to think, experience, explore, question and search for answers.
Our program is for children ages 3 and up who are potty trained.
